To some, the patterns of clouds in the sky or the playful chirping of a bird is art. To others, a pile of trash thrown together randomly is art. The Dada artist Marcel Duchamp once mounted a snow shovel on the wall and called it "In Advance of the Broken Arm". Art is often in the eye of the beholder or, more likely, the investor.

This is foolishness. Art should be functional and devoid of passion. Emotions have no place in society today. We cannot be ruled by the graceless urges of the primates from which we descended. The worth of art should be based not on whether or not the artist is dead, but the very measurable economic boost received by communities and nations. In other words, art should encourage people to produce. WORK

Pine Tree State Mind Control has the motto "Art versus Reality versus the Soul". Indeed, that is the only use of art. Art should shelter people from reality (as does television) and ferret passion and emotion from our lives (which television also does). By embedding layers of subliminal messages into art (which, by some definitions, may include this very page), the artwork becomes functional. The most mundane seascapes and inaccessible collages can mask a wealth of exhortations, if only we are willing to use the technology. Would you buy art that lets you build a cocoon around yourself? Would you spend money on technology that lets you escape into a fantasy world, free from pain, introspection, and ennui? Of course you would! Look at your cable TV bill!

One goal of Pine Tree State Mind Control is to steal art from the artists. Today's artists cannot contribute to a smoothly running society. When the focus is to awe with beauty or shock with horror, nothing is ultimately gained. Artists are non-value added. Whether we're talking about music, painting, sculpture, theater, poetry, or prose, there is capacity for subliminal messages. The elegance of the insertion and the behavioral changes that are manifested are the only ways to rate art. Real beauty is in sterilization. Passion and individuality are old-fashioned ideals. Watch television! Turn up that Old Time Rock n Roll! Sing along so that the lyrics become a mantra and then become dogma. It's safe and healthy. It's time to wash your brain.
